El Dr. Christian Doldán es presidente de la Sociedad Paraguaya de Emergencias Médicas y en octubre de 2019 celebró la primera conferencia paraguaya sobre medicina de emergencia. La conferencia inaugural de Paraguay fue un gran éxito al brindar la oportunidad de obtener mayores vínculos con otras sociedades, instituciones y empresas médicas. Inicialmente con la esperanza de atraer alrededor de 500 a 600 asistentes,
Dr Christian Doldán is Chairman of the Sociedad Paraguaya de Emergencias Médicas and in October 2019 held the first Paraguayan conference on emergency medicine. Paraguay’s inaugural conference was a great success providing an opportunity to obtain greater links with other medical societies, institutions and companies. Initially hoping to attract around 500 to 600 attendees, the event ended up attracting 978 physicians and other emergency care providers from Paraguay and around the world.
Since becoming recognised as a specialty in 2015, emergency medicine is now exploding in Brazil with over 20 programs now available throughout the country.
Soon after Dr Nicole Pinheiro began her residency she realised how incredible the global EM community was, being open to sharing knowledge and experience and assisting each other whenever possible.

Behavioural Emergencies in the USA – Lessons for the IFEM Community
Since its birth the specialty of emergency medicine has not focussed as much attention to developing expertise in behavioural emergencies when compared with developing expertise in trauma and critical care. Unfortunately this has resulted in inadequate behavioural emergency training in residency programs in the USA.
