About IFEM
The International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) is committed to advancing emergency care and strengthening healthcare systems worldwide. Through collaboration, innovation, and education, IFEM promotes global standards in emergency medicine, fosters leadership, and drives impactful change in healthcare.
About the Internship Program
The IFEM Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for ambitious individuals from diverse academic backgrounds—including medicine, emergency medicine, business, finance, and public health—to gain hands-on experience in a global organization dedicated to health innovation and emergency care improvement.
The program integrates five key components:
- Position Title: IFEM Intern
- Reporting To: IFEM Staff depending on Projects
- Role Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Duration: 6 – 9 months
- Location: Remote, UAE, Australia, or UK
- Languages: English
- Salary: Unpaid
Who Should Apply & Eligibility Criteria
The IFEM Internship Program is designed for students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals who are passionate about global health, emergency medicine, and nonprofit leadership. Ideal candidates come from diverse academic backgrounds and professional interests, including:
- Early-Career Emergency Medicine Professionals & Medical Students: Those looking to deepen their understanding of healthcare management, global health policy, and emergency care initiatives.
- Business & Finance Students: Individuals interested in strategic planning, financial management, project oversight, and nonprofit organizational growth.
- Public Health & Policy Students: Those passionate about contributing to healthcare reforms, impact measurement, and sustainable healthcare practices.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or postgraduate program in a relevant field, such as Medicine, Business, Public Health, Finance, or Marketing & Communications.
- Professionals: Recent graduates and early-career professionals with a demonstrated interest in emergency medicine, healthcare policy, nonprofit management, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Ideal Candidates Should Possess:
- A strong interest in global health, emergency medicine, or nonprofit leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively in an international environment.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to contribute to IFEM’s ongoing initiatives.

The IFEM Internship Program Integrates Five Key Components:

Research & Policy Development: Gain experience in Health Policy & Strategy by supporting policy development, research, and best practices in global emergency medicine.
- Conduct research on global emergency medicine trends, policies, and best practices.
- Support the relevant IFEM’s committees and Groups, in drafting policy papers and advocacy materials.
- Assist in data collection, survey administration, and impact measurement of IFEM initiatives.

Finance & Resource Management: Gain experience in Finance & Resource Management and learn about nonprofit financial management, budget planning, and organizational funding strategies.
- Assist in budget tracking, expense monitoring, and invoice processing.
- Support financial documentation and reporting in collaboration with IFEM’s finance team.
- Contribute to grant writing, sponsorship outreach, and resource mobilization efforts.

Event & Program Coordination: Gain experience in Event & Education Support and assist in coordinating international events, educational programs, and leadership development initiatives.
- Provide logistical support for IFEM webinars, workshops, and global conferences, such as ICEM.
- Assist in coordinating international training programs, faculty programming, and committee meetings.
- Engage with IFEM members and external partners to ensure smooth event execution.

Marketing & Communications: Gain experience in in Marketing & Communications by contributing to impactful campaigns, social media outreach, and member engagement strategies.
- Develop content for IFEM’s website, newsletters, and social media channels.
- Assist in drafting press releases, promotional materials, and member engagement campaigns.
- Monitor engagement metrics and help implement communication strategies to increase IFEM’s visibility
- Administrative & Operational Support

- Assist IFEM staff with daily operations, including scheduling, documentation, and report preparation.
- Support virtual and in-person meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Maintain and update databases, records, and contact lists for committees, working groups, and stakeholders.
