Simulation Session 4: Running Simulation Scenarios
See you there

Simulation Session 4: Running Simulation Scenarios
Introduction
Simulation rarely runs exactly as written. Monitors fail, learners surprise us, time slips and faculty must think on their feet while still protecting objectives and participant safety. This session moves beyond theory into the realities educators face every day. Through practical examples and expert guidance, participants will learn how to manage curveballs, maintain momentum and deliver high quality learning even when the scenario does not go to plan.
Target Audience
Emergency medicine consultants, specialists, simulation faculty, educators and clinical leaders aspiring to establish or enhance simulation programs. This event supports development of simulation scenario design and execution skills to improve education and training outcomes globally.
Learning Objectives
- Conduct structured pre-briefing that establishes expectations, roles and psychological safety for participants.
- Manage the operational flow of a simulation scenario, including timing, information release, monitor control and coordination with confederates or technicians.
- Adjust scenario progression in response to learner decisions while preserving realism and achievement of intended clinical endpoints.
- Recognize and troubleshoot common challenges that arise during live scenario delivery in both low and high resource environments.
