The DGINA was founded in 2005 by the senior physicians of several emergency departments. The nine founding clinics included basic and standard care facilities, specialist and maximum care providers and university facilities.
The founding board consisted of Dr. Barbara Hogan, Asklepios Klinik Hamburg, Dr. Georg Altrock, Offenbach Clinic, Dr. Markus Huntemann, Lüdenscheid Clinic, Dr. Peter-Friedrich Petersen, Aachen University Hospital.
Since it was founded, the DGINA has grown to over 2,300 members (as of 12/2022) and is now an important partner for those responsible in politics and health on the subject of emergency medicine.
The optimal care of people who become acute emergency patients due to illness or accident is important. The German Society for Interdisciplinary Emergency and Acute Medicine (DGINA) was founded in Germany to jointly improve the care of these people, who are so dependent on our performance, our system and our team. The most important goal of the DGINA is the promotion and development of interdisciplinary, professional emergency medicine in Germany as an independent specialty as well as the establishment and support of interdisciplinary emergency departments.
