Dr Ffion Davies
Immediate Past President
Royal College of Emergency Medicine
Immed Past President
Dr Ffion Davies is a Consultant Emergency Physician at the University Hospitals of Leicester, UK, and Honorary Senior Lecturer, University of Leicester. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.
Ffion is Immediate Past President of IFEM and continues to be closely involved during this period of rapid growth. Diversity, inclusivity and equity underlie her motivation for organisational development. Previously Ffion was Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee and Chair of the Paediatric Special Interest Group.
She has a passion for inter-professional education and is sub-specialist trained in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. Her career has combined these two areas and has been dedicated to improving care in emergency departments through education, in particular the care of children.
For over 20 years Ffion has acted as advisor to various government or other national strategies and acted in multiple leadership roles in the UK. She is the Medical Lead for The Children’s Air Ambulance charity, a national PICU/NICU helicopter retrieval and ECMO service.
Within IFEM Ffion founded and Chaired the IFEM Paediatric EM Special Interest Group 2011, was Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee 2018-2020, then served as President Elect 2020-2022 working on projects such as online education, induction, inclusion, diversity, mentorship and a governance review for the organization.
Ffion will continue IFEM’s work as a body connecting and helping those working in emergency care, one which promotes the development of a trained workforce who are skilled in providing emergency patient care and are also present at the table of discussions of emergency care pathways at all levels, local to global.
