Who should attend?

Consultants and specialists in emergency medicine with an interest in being simulation faculty who are looking to set up their own simulation centers or to improve existing simulation practices. 

 

Learning objectives

  1. Understanding of how medical education theories utilize simulation as a means of teaching human factors. 
  2. Understanding of the requirements for setting up a low/hi fidelity simulation center. 
  3. Ability to write simulation scenarios with consideration for the objectives and assessment criteria. 
  4. Ability to run simulation scenarios in low/hi fidelity centers. 
  5. Understanding of various debriefing techniques and how to flexibly apply the correct one for each scenario.

Speakers

Dr. Qureshi is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Governance Lead at Isle of Wight NHS Trust.  A graduate of Army Medical College, he holds an MSc in Critical Care from Cardiff University and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) by examination.  Until recently, he served as a Trustee Board Member for RCEM and Chair of the EMSAS Forum, representing the specialty on the RCEM Council.  He is a Founding Director and General Secretary of the British & Irish Pakistani Emergency Physicians Association (BIPEPA).  Internationally, he is the UK Liaison for the ACEP Ambassador Program and represents RCEM on the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) CPD & Events committee.  A dedicated educator, Dr. Qureshi is a lead examiner for RCEM and an international course director for ATLS and ALS.  He also serves as an editor for the South Asian Journal of Emergency Medicine (SAJEM) and is an active international member of the Pakistan Society of Emergency Medicine (PSEM).

 

Asit Misra, MD, MSMEd, CHSE, FSSH

Dr. Misra is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine/Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Assistant Director of the Prehospital & Emergency Training Division of the Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education.  He has a Master’s in Medical Education from LECOM, Erie, PA.  He has completed an ACS -AEI accredited surgical simulation fellowship at the Riverside Methodist Hospital - Columbus-Ohio (2019) and a Teaching Fellowship from the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dallas-TX (2018).  Dr. Misra serves as an editorial board member, associate editor, section editor, and peer reviewer for numerous academic journals.  His areas of interest are healthcare simulation, disaster medicine, resuscitation, faculty development and medical education research.  Dr. Misra’s research focuses on demonstrating the outcomes and the impact of experiential learning, assessment and program evaluation in simulation-based medical education.

 

Dr. Bryant is a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Environmental & Public Health Sciences.  She completed her MPH and MD at Columbia, her Emergency Medicine residency at NYU-Bellevue Hospital, and her Master's in Medical Education at Cincinnati Children's with a focus on Simulation.  She co-directs the Emergency Medicine departmental Section on Global Health and works in Central and South America on residency education and development.

 

Jabeen Fayyaz MD, FCPS, MCPS, DCH, CHSE, MHPE, PhD (Simulation) is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician, simulation scholar, and global medical education leader. She is based at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, where she serves as Medical Director of the SimKIDS Simulation Program and the Teaching Scholars Program within the Learning Institute, and as Co-Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine International Clinical Fellowship. She is also a Staff Physician in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto.  Dr. Fayyaz’s academic work focuses on simulation-based education, faculty development, patient safety, and health systems improvement, with a strong emphasis on equity, human-centered design, and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries. Internationally, she serves as President-Elect of the International Pediatric Simulation Society, Co-Chair of the IPSS-INSPIRE Pediatric Simulation Fellowship, and a Board Member of the International Network for Simulation-based Pediatric Innovation, Research, and Education. She is actively engaged in global teaching, research, and visiting faculty roles across South Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, contributing to the advancement of simulation scholarship and emergency care education worldwide.

 

Dr. Dolly is an Emergency Medicine specialist from India with a strong commitment to medical education, quality improvement, clinician well-being, and sustainable living. She is currently working as an Emergency Medicine registrar in the UK and is also a faculty member on Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses. She has served as a faculty for the national Emergency Medicine training programmes in India and brings the perspective, wisdom, and practical insights gained from working across both developing and well-established emergency care systems.  Her dedication to advancing Emergency Medicine is reflected in her global collaborations, including ALiEM’s Faculty Incubator (Facubator) programmes and IFEM’s education and simulation series since its inception. She has been invited as a faculty speaker at national and international conferences, has contributed to international publications, and has received locally awarded scholarships.  Beyond medicine, Dr. Dolly is trained in Indian classical singing and dance.  She is a plant enthusiast, a foodie, and enjoys photography, travel, and spending quality time with family and friends.
