Dr Nilanka Wickramaratne
SriLankan Society of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine

Dr Nilanka Wickramaratne completed his Emergency Medicine Training from SriLanka and diploma in Critical care in Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, Colombo. He is from one of the first group of Emergency Physicians produced by the country and appointed as an Emergency Physician to Accident and Emergency Unit of The National Hospital of SriLanka first time. Has contribute to structuring and development of Emergency departments and leads Quality and patient safety across the organization. Dr Wickramaratne is the Founder director of SriLankan College of Emergency and Retrieval Medicine (SCERM)
His engagement in emergency Medicine started back in 2011 as a council member of SriLankan Society of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (SSCCEM). he was instrumental in designing and bringing EM standards quality training programs-
Basic Course in Emergency Medicine (BCEM) conducted by SSCCEM in collaboration with Ministry of Health Sri Lanka and Kothalawala Defense University Sri Lanka. Dr Wickramaratne is the National coordinator and instructor in Emergency Life Care (ELC) course since 2013 organized by SSCCEM in collaboration with Australian College of Emergency Physicians. He coordinated the Diploma in Emergency nursing programme in the Post Basic Nursing School of Sri Lanka for which he had developed leaning material and course book. He was the chief examiner for the final exam of Emergency Nursing Diploma.
He was the founder of SLEMCON-The annual SriLankan Emergency Medicine Conference and organized many international conferences and chaired them.
Dr Wickramaratne has several international publications and presentation to his name. He is also involved in many research projects related to Emergency Medicine currently. His work in research and publications not only limited to Emergency Medicine but also extends to Medical Education, Gynecology and Obstetrics and Critical Care.
