Role of the Behavioral Emergencies Special Interest Group:

The Behavioral Emergencies Special Interest Group (BESIG) was founded in 2017 and is an international collaboration of people interested in promoting the high-quality care of people requiring emergency care who have a behavioural emergency or co-morbidity.

The Group seeks to improve emergency care of such people through:

  • Sharing best practices by identifying, developing and disseminating guidelines and standards pertaining to behavioral emergencies
  • Developing globally relevant education and training opportunities
  • Promoting research in behavioral emergencies
  • Advocating for people with behavioral emergencies and their requirements from the Emergency Health Services
